How to Stop Facebook's Recommended Posts for You?

 

Facebook has become a worldwide phenomenon. Approximately three billion people use the app on a regular basis. Its popularity, however, is no accident. Facebook works hard to keep people coming back to the app by giving us more of what we enjoy. Based on our previous interactions with comparable postings, Facebook's algorithms will propose content we might enjoy.

What Are “Suggested For You” Posts on Facebook?

Facebook wants you to continue using their app as long as possible. The more time you spend on Facebook, the more advertisements you'll see, and the more money Facebook can generate.

To hold your attention, Facebook will try to offer you more of the stuff that its algorithms believe you would enjoy. You're more likely to stick around if you see more of the stuff you enjoy.

Facebook labels the stuff it proposes to you as "Suggested For You" to distinguish it from the rest of the content in your feed.

Is it possible to disable "Suggested For You" posts?

Unfortunately, there is no way to prevent "Suggested For You" postings from appearing altogether if you don't like the stuff that Facebook offers for you. For obvious reasons, Facebook does not want you to be able to disable a feature meant to encourage you to use the app more frequently and for longer periods of time. In your feed, you will always see "Suggested For You" posts.
